2026 Jeep Compass vs 2026 Jeep Cherokee

Serving Midwest City, OK

The subcompact Compass crossover and the compact Cherokee crossover are among Jeep's smallest SUVs in the 2026 model year. The Compass is in the middle of its second generation this year, while the Cherokee launches its third generation. What can you expect from these top options?

Performance

Every Jeep Compass comes with the same engine: a 2.0-liter turbo, four-cylinder gas engine that delivers 200 horsepower. The engine mates with an eight-speed auto transmission and all-wheel drive across all trim levels. Some trim levels have an off-road-tuned suspension, low-range gearing, and a Rock drive mode.

The Cherokee is exclusively available with a hybrid engine. It features two electric motors along with a turbo 1.6-liter, four-cylinder gas engine. This is an all-wheel drive model that produces 210 total horsepower.

Appearance

The 2026 Jeep Compass and the 2026 Cherokee share the brand's classic design elements, such as squared-off wheel wells and a wide, seven-column grille. The Compass is differentiated by its layered front fascia and LED-outlined headlights. The sides have pinstripe definition lines, and the rear is raked.

The Cherokee has a squared-off nose with a dark, molded bumper. The headlights are smaller and are capped on three sides with LED bars. The front and rear fenders are flared, and the dark molding extends across the sides and through the rear bumper.

Features

You will find many of the same features offered in the Compass and the Cherokee. Some of these are a hands-free power liftgate, heated front seats, premium leather upholstery, a navigation system, a panoramic sunroof, an Alpine sound system, smartphone app integration with wireless connectivity, a digital instrument cluster, an automated parking system, a wireless charging pad, remote engine start, lane departure mitigation, a blind-spot detection system, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and other features.
