Top Safety Pick IIHS – 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Redesign

Friday, February 4th, 2011

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has made quite a change for this year and it’s certainly going to be something you’ll have to see to believe.

From the design changes to the structural changes which have cumulatively contributed to its’ Top Safety Pick in 2010 from the IIHS (Insurance Institute of Highway Safety), the Grand Cherokee has evolved substantially.

There are many things that make this new Grand Cherokee an amazing combination of engineering and design and one worth explaining for the reason that it represents new changes coming to Chrysler is the Pentastar V6 engine.

The Pentastar V6 incorporates Fiat technology into the Grand Cherokee and for those unfamiliar with Fiat, they’ve sorta built some of the most inspiring technology thats considered leading edge within the engineering world. One of their most notable accomplishments being the MultiAir technology which allows engines to run leaner under certain conditions resulting in less fuel consumption.

The evolution of the Grand Cherokee marks a new era for Chrysler, and one that with the vast engineering accolades from Fiat is going to be the one to watch here in the US in the coming years. They’ve made extraordinary progress in blending the best of Chrysler in with the best of Fiat to produce the engine platforms of the next generation.

The Pentastar V6 is able to produce a 33% increase in power, 11% increase in torque, while increasing fuel efficiency by 11%. This double digit performance improvement means that we’ve only just begun to see how fast and how great this new collaboration is going to be between Chrysler and Fiat.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee – Luxury & Agile

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is as much about luxury as it is about getting its hands dirty when it ventures offroad. You will be hard pressed to find anything quite like this from any of the competing brands.

The Cherokee redefines what’s expected from an SUV, and attempts to merge the best of both worlds – luxury and offroad scrappiness. Experience will suggest that having a combination of those two vastly different vehicle attributes would lead to a compromise of both, although the contrary is true here.

With the latest advances in 4×4 technology and improvements to the engineering, Jeep is, and will always be known as the most confident of any four wheel drive SUV on the market. This isn’t due to marketing from the manufacturer, or hype spread through facebook fan pages, this is purely a respect thing from many who live and breathe offroad.

Now consider another manufacturer that’s known for luxury, and you’ll likely follow those thoughts with inflated price tags and other features that go over the top. Now think about this manufacturer trying to get a competing product in the offroad category without compromising its luxury brand name. It simply can’t happen.

The takeaway here is that offroad agility is a much harder to be the best at than having luxury features.

Being the king of the offroad means that your vehicle should be unstoppable, it almost any type of terrain. When you are in this position, the last thing you want to do is let someone come along that builds luxury vehicles claim to have a better product, so all you have to do is provide some creature comforts and as a result you’re likely to be the best of both worlds.

The new body is 146% sturdier, updated with and improved significantly from a structural standpoint. There’s 5,400 additional welding points making the Cherokee rock solid. You get two engines choices, 5.7L V8 Hemi and 3.6L V6 Pentastar flex fuel, the Pentastar being a revolutionary new design. It develops 212 bhp at 6,400 rpm and 353 Nm at 4,800 rpm.

Jeep Grand Cherokee will leave you thinking what life was like when you weren’t riding in a legendary offroad 4×4 that camouflages itself as a true luxury SUV regardless of its environment.

Jeep Wrangler – Ultimate Offroad 4×4 Vehicle

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Automakers continue to market new designs–so many so that consumers may not recognize every model name or every automaker name out there, but there is one brand everyone recognizes in both name and design: Jeep. Built as a reconnaissance car to be used in the European Theatre during WWII, the 70 year old Jeep brand still builds vehicles that cater to the adventurous.

Winner of “Four Wheeler” magazines Best 4×4 Vehicle of the Decade, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon—Jeep continues to grant consumers who like to make their own roads the means to do so. Here is a glimpse into why outdoor enthusiasts’ vehicle of choice is Jeep.

Jeep Wrangler comes in three trims: the base Sport, Sahara, and the epitome of off road adventure–the Rubicon. Rubicon comes in two door or for the off road loving family the Rubicon Unlimited four door option.

You can get into a Jeep reasonably with the suggested MSRP beginning at $21,165. Of course prices rise with the trim and options chosen with a high end price that can reach as high as MSRP of $32,050. For that drivers get a fun iconic vehicle that is the baddest off road SUV on the market. However, Jeep is not a luxury SUV. It is all brawn off road but on pavement tends to be bumpy with an interior made for easy cleanups after muddy dusty trips. In other words this is not the best commute car unless you want to take the top off and soak up the sun and endure the pothole bounces.

Fuel economy could be better as well with a 15/19 mpg rating—in the standard Jeep’s 3.8-L Sequential Multi-Port Injection V-6 engine that grants 202 hp and 237 pound ft. of torque.

Buying a Jeep is about getting there in a vehicle that allows you to take the top down and if you like the doors off —and hey if the windshield is in the way just fold it down. Jeep allows the kid inside everyone to come out and play—a very good thing in a sometimes hectic world.
